DC Super Hero Girls and Girl Scouts Inspire the Next Generation of Female Leaders and EntrepreneursCause Marketing / Posted on November 22, 2019
DC Super Hero Girls teamed up with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) for the 2019 Cookie Pro contest to foster the next generation of female leaders and entrepreneurs.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world and gives girls real-world experiences managing money, setting goals, meeting deadlines, learning the basic of marketing to customers, and having fun as they learn and earn. Using the power of DC Super Hero Girls, the contest inspired Girl Scouts to be smart and courageous as everyday Super Heroes. Girl Scouts from across the country were invited to enter the contest by creating mini graphic novels that illustrated their cookie-selling experience. They also answered questions that showcased the skills they used to run their cookie business. Twenty-four cookie entrepreneurs then had the opportunity to travel to Burbank, California with one parent or guardian for the Cookie Entrepreneur Experience of a lifetime, which included behind-the-scenes VIP adventures at Warner Bros. Studio.
While at Warner Bros., Girl Scouts were inspired through VIP tours, access to WB talent and management, and real-world entrepreneurial activities that enabled them to apply their Girl Scout Cookie Program experience to envision their futures. Some of the activities they experienced included meeting DC Super Hero Girls Executive Producer and Girl Scout Alum Lauren Faust, receiving mentorship from women leaders across Warner Bros., discovering how Animation comes to life, and learning how comic books are created with accomplished DC artists and writers.
During the Cookie Entrepreneur Experience, a parent described the visit as “life changing and passion affirming,” while another commented that the days’ speakers really, “demonstrated that women who work together are strong together.”
Girl Scouts from across the country unleashed their creativity to share their unique cookie-selling experiences and how they learned to lead, just like the creative, courageous, and inventive DC Super Hero Girls. During the experience, these go-getters demonstrated how they take the lead, set high goals for themselves, bring positive change to their communities, and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills. Together the DC Super Hero Girls and Girl Scouts of the USA are fostering the next generation of female leaders and entrepreneurs by teaching girls of all ages how to use their “powers” to positively impact the communities around them.
