HUMANITAS Honors God Friended MeAwards & Reports / Posted on February 28, 2019
At Warner Bros., our business and passion is storytelling. From the content we’ve produced on the big screen to the small screen, we’ve seen first-hand the power that stories have to change the world for the better.
This month, our television show God Friended Me, recently renewed for a second season, was honored with the 2019 HUMANITAS Prize in the 60-minute Drama category for the series’ pilot episode, written by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt. The HUMANITAS Prize celebrates film and television writers whose work inspires more compassion, peace, love and dignity. As Creators and Executive Producers of the series, Lilien and Wynbrandt use the power of story to entertain and enrich their audiences in a positive way.
As part of the HUMANITAS Prize, each recipient is awarded with a donation from HUMANITAS to the non-profit organization of their choice. God Friended Me donated their award to Story Pirates, an organization dedicated to providing life-changing literacy and creative writing programs in New York and Los Angeles to thousands of students in underserved communities.
